What is It?

~ The airbrush tanning, also known as sunless tanning, is a process which uses products containing dihydroxyacetone. This substance reacts with the amino acids in your skin to form a natural beautiful looking tan. The tan is initially sprayed on and will continue to darken for approximately 24 hours. Some solutions contain Walnut Extract. Make sure you check with your tanning professional if their solution has that in it if you have allergies to Nuts! Otherwise most solutions are organic. Cruelty free. Paraben free.

Is It Safe?

~ The process is safe for external use. For this reason certain precautions should ...be taken to protect your eyes, nose and mouth. Goggles or protective eyewear is recommended as is a lip balm. You should also protect your nose from the spray. Once your face is sprayed, the remainder of the application should be harmless. I use protection on all my clients.

How Long Will It Last?

~ How long the tan looks will last varies greatly from person to person. On average the tan should last you from 5 to 10 days. There are skin care products available which will help extend the tan's lifespan. You should check to see recommendations. Products to avoid with Spray tans are: Dove. Curel, Bath & Body Works, Victoria Secret, anything scented, acne washes, exfoliated products, Products containing: aha, retinol, parabens, sulfate & mineral oil.

How to Prepare?

~ You should shower and exfoliate and shave either the night before or the morning of your tanning. Get your manicures and pedicures BEFORE your tan. Use a non-moisturizing soap. Do not wear makeup and do not apply any types of lotions, deodorants. All of these can interfere with the tanning process. You should wear Dark loose-fitting clothes with sandals or flip-flops. You should wear either an old bathing suit, or some old clothing you consider disposable. If you desire, many tanning operators will allow you to tan nude. If this is your preference, you should check with the business when setting up your appointment.

What About Maintenance?

~ The tanning mixture will dry in approximately 5 minutes. You should not shower for 8 to 12 hours after receiving the tan. Apply a moisturizer daily and drink lots of water. Don't recommend intense sweating or If you swim in a pool with harsh chemicals, it can diminish the effects of the tan. NOTE: Airbrush tanning does NOT protect you from the sun. You should be certain to wear a sun block if you are going to be outdoors.
